For the Batavia Downs Newsletter which typically mails out of Rochester, New York, getting it out on time is crucial for the race track and casino. Dated events and specials are promoted throughout the book’s pages and monthly calendar. A late newsletter means lost revenue for the casino. For the February 2014 issue, Grit’s normally dependable delivery drivers were not available due to medical issues.
Grit’s sales representative Steve Shoff was up to the challenge though and drove from his home in York, Pennsylvania through bad weather conditions and delivered the mail for his customer, Applied Business Systems of Batavia, to the post office in Rochester, New York. He even delivered the casino’s additional copies to Applied Business Systems – eliminating the need to ship them.
